a few days ago, i dropped by sm northwing and saw this on display.no, this is not a real plane. this is a gigantic model plane on display right at the lobby of northwing. it's wing span and length probably measured a meter or so.
but this is no ordinary model. the interesting part about this plane? it can fly! the pilot remotely flies it using a hand-held transmitter and the plane's receiver. thus radio control (rc). and this isn't the only one of its kind there. several other types of planes were showcased. there were also helicopters.
the display attracted a lot of customers. most of them, awaiting for something to happen...like maybe planes flying, but nah!
i tried to get some information about rc aircrafts in cebu since there wasn't any provided in the mall display. you cant find so much information online either, at least for cebu enthusiasts. but there's a site for radio control in the philippines at http://rcphilippines.com. or you can go to other sites where this hobby is discussed like istorya.net, rcgroups.com, youtube.com and metacafe.com.
from what i read, usual fly sites in cebu are the family park and south reclamation flying strip.
it'd be nice to drop by one of these days and see these aircrafts fly.
